Fire apparatus from all over New Jersey participated in the Iron & Steel Run. Fire units from Camden County were placed on the overpasses over the travel route. A piece of steel from the World Trade Center was being escorted to Arlington Va. to be turned into a monument Squirt 81 teamed up with the Squad 45 to man the bell rd. overpass. Crews stood at attention while the motorcade of motor cycles, FDNY units, NJSP and the steel passed. "NEVER FORGET"

During the height of the June Storms a dwelling box was struck in the Lambs Terrace section of the Township. The incident was up graded to a "All Hands" bringing Utility 81 the crew arrived on location and was assigned RIT.

As of the end of July all of the fire apparatus has been upgraded with MDT "Mobile Data Terminals". These mobile computers will allow us to have critical information about the incidents we respond to. Firefighters have completed the county offered training.

A quick and severe thunder storm moved through the Camden County Area in June causing many power outages and down trees and some minor flooding Glendora firefighters handled over 20 calls for power lines trees blocking roadways to supplying power to an infant on a vent machine.

The Fire Department has been notified that they will receive a AFG grant for SCBA. We will be replacing our out dated SCBA with state of the art SCBA which will include a firefighter locating system and pass device system. A August delivery date is scheduled for the equipment.

At 20:30 hours Task Force 81 was dispatched for a dwelling fire at Saxony Ct. Squirt 81 responded with a crew of 4, heavy smoke was venting from the number 2 floor. 8104 requested the "all hands" Firefighters Vrooman and Murphy stretched a 1.75 hand line up the stairway to in counter a heavy fire condition. Engine 822 arrived and pulled a second line off the Squirt to assist the first in crews. Quint 29 laddered the roof and performed vertical ventilation. Two residents were transported to the hospital to be checked out. The crews made quick work of the fire but remained on location for sometime assisting the County Fire Marshal and performing extensive overhaul. The Gloucester Township Youth Lacrosse Club held a Ice Breaker Tournament at the Hickstwn Park in the Lambs Terrace section to welcome a new season. Teams from all over South Jersey and Philadelphia participated. Due to the large number of players and games being held on different fields the Bike team was requested. Most of the day was event free except for some cramps, during one of the last games being played a player suffered a dislocated hip. The bike team responded and stabilized the player till GT EMS arrived on location the transported the player.

Task Force 81 responded to a reported dwelling fire on St. Mark Drive in Glendora. 8101 arrived on location with heavy smoke and embers flowing from the top of a chimney. SQ-81 arrived on location and stretched 1 13/4" handline Q-29 arrived on location to ladder to dwelling and check for and extension. SQ-81 crew entered the dwelling and verified the fire was contained to the fire box, the companies removed the contents of the fire box to the exterior of the dwelling.

squirt 81 was dispatched for a bomb threat in the Catalina Hills section. GTPD on location reported that the home owner had found an old grenade in the basement. Squirt 81 responded silent to the incident and assisted in securing resident on the adjacent street. The Squirt than stood by and awaited for the Camden County Sheriff Department to remove the device.

Marine 81 and Rescue 81 were dispatched to the Big Timber Creek around 21:46 hrs to help locate a stranded boater and a jet ski operator. The Blenheim Fire Company Station 83 along with marine 82 and marine 84 were operating in the area of Weaver saw mill for the lost boaters. 830 requested marine 81 and marine 75 be dispatched to search the Glendora section of the creek.8101 arrivied on location and set up a command post at Melvin Ave. Rescue 81 arrivied on location and set up lighting, Rescue 84 was directed to set up lighting at the bridge. Marine 81 located the lost boat just south of the Clements bridge, the passengers were checked and towed back to the Melvin Ave launch site to be checked out by BLS the jet ski operator was located by Marine 82 and was towed back to the Lower Landing Rd. site. All units cleared after a shortly there after.

On Sunday evening Station 82 responded to a reported dwelling fire in the Oxyen Hill section of Chews Landing 8201 arrived on location to find heavy smoke and fire on the number 2 floor of a townhouse. Engine 82 went into service with a 1.75 handline and made a great stop on the fire Ladder 84 provided ventilation operations. Rescue 81 crew reported to manpower and secured utilities and assisted in overhaul operations.

The Gloucester Township Board of Fire Commissioners placed into service two 2009 Dodge Durango’s, for the Fire Chief and the other for the Fire Marshal. Each vehicle is equipped with LED lighting and custom rear mounted consoles. The Fire Chief ‘s vehicle is equipped with multiple mobile radios and chargers for incidents were a command post is needed. This vehicle also holds command boards, lighting and SCBA. The Fire Marshal's vehicle also has LED lighting and a rear console for inspections and investigations.

On Sunday morning the Township Special Operations Group gathered at the Lakeside quarry in the Erial section to hone their marine skills. Marine group leader Lt. Bonawitz and Firefighter Greer had the teams perform basic marine unit operations. In the second evolution the teams perform live rescues.
Any Gloucester Twp. firefighter who is interested in becoming a member of the SOG team can contact their respective Chief or come to the monthly SOG meeting held at Station 81 on the 3rd. Thursday of every month, to pick up an application.
